Whoo hoo, excitement consumes me

Seriously.

I just released a new mini-album thing. The one I was mentioned before. It’s cool, I think. You can download it for free, if you want.

It comes with a read-me thing that you should check out first. Don’t get the wrong impression!

Edison Glass - Let Go

WHY? - The Vowels Pt. 2

One day, I hope to have all of this.

I just purchased this probably five minutes ago on iTunes.

You should, too.

Phoenix

A few weeks ago, my girlfriend and I were watching TV at her house, late on a Saturday night. Saturday Night Live was on and we weren’t paying very much attention (since in our opinion, the show has lost a lot of its lustre over the past few years.)

Eventually, the musical guest(s) came on and she and I were both pleased to find a band that was vaguely reminiscent of The Strokes, but with a greater emphasis on the ‘synthier’ aspects of music.

Again, we ignored what was presented to us and proceeded to talk over the television. The second song they played was much better. We both enjoyed it.

Since then, I’ve been spending my internet time ‘procuring’ several albums by the Versailles born band Phoenix. They hail from the same city that gave birth to electronic acts Air and Daft Punk, as well. This means a lot to the music and should help in describing the sound and feel of their music. She and I were both very surprised to find out that they were from France—and that knowing this fact made their music make infinitely more sense. And would have also explained why they were dressed so well.

Their singer sings in English. They retain a sort of light pop style presence. Each of their albums features a vastly different array of sounds and each one has a different feeling to get across.

As of this moment, my favorite album is their 2000 release “United.” It has a bit of a lounge / blues / country type feeling to it. I know that that sounds a bit unbelievable, but this band manages the sound with ease.

Their most recent release “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix” features a more direct sound and a lot more synth, like I mentioned before.

There’s a lot of feeding for any type of fan of music. So go listen to them.
